What is varicocele surgery?
Varicoceles
Varicoceles are the enlarged veins that show up on the scrotum down the penis. The scrotum is the sag hanging behind the penile body with testicles being entangled just near.
Varicoceles is a common disorder of the veins inside the scrotum, the protective sac that protects and holds the testicles (balls).
Varicoceles are believed to be caused by defective valves in the veins within the scrotum, just above the testicles.
Varicoceles are similar to varicose veins that occur in the legs due to the swelling of their veins.
A varicocele can lead to testicular atrophy, or shrinkage, which may impact testicular functions that include testosterone production and spermatogenesis.
Sperm-producing tubules make up the bulk of the testicle that is blood and oxygen provided through settled veins in the scrotum that take rupture, damage, or swelling due to various circumstances and result in varicocele.
Varicocele is supposed to be one of the major factors to male infertility. It takes quite a good share in the number of males who suffer fertility issues.
However, varicocele is observed to occur in teenagers more when puberty hits right back bringing increased blood flow to the scrotum.
Varicoceles may cause mild discomfort, aches, or pain, usually in the left testicle. The symptoms look more wild over certain activities like bike riding, standing on foot for a longer time, etc.
That is, a varicocele may also be described as a scrotal heaviness that worsens with exercise, activity, or after standing for prolonged periods.
Which nerve or muscle in the scrotum suffers the varicocele?
Dilation of the pampiniform venous plexus in the scrotum above the testicle is called a varicocele.
Normally, these valves regulate the flow of blood to and from the testicles. When normal flow doesn't occur, the blood backs up, causing the veins to dilate.
Does varicocele cause erectile dysfunction?
A grade3 varicocele named bilateral varicocele is associated with a significant reduction in testicular function which may cause erectile dysfunction and male infertility.
Does masturbation cause varicocele?
Masturbation does not have side effects and it does not cause varicocele. Only that there could be chances if varicocele preexists and masturbation may worsen the case with generating fluctuations in blood flow.
Varicocele surgery
Surgery to repair a varicocele is what is called varicocele surgery.
Varicocele surgery is the process to remove the enlarged veins named varicoceles from the scrotum to set free blood flow through the veins being twisted through either side of the scrotum with testicles to retain a proper painless semen release from the penile body.
The varicocele surgery is intended to ensure veins can no longer be connected to the rest of the body and will no longer cause pain or harm to sperm production.
Many men choose to have surgery to improve fertility.
Varicocele repair, also commonly known as varicocelectomy, is the accepted treatment of choice for chronic scrotal pain associated with a varicocele that has not responded to conservative measures.
Varicocele surgeries take not more than one day and the patient is sent home on the same day surgery takes place.
Varicocele surgeries are best practiced by putting patients on anesthesia. Otherwise, there is a hell of a lot of pain, one would not like to imagine also.
Varicocele surgeries are heavy and costly and the patient is put in front of surgical with insurance behind.
There are majorly two types of varicocele surgeries namely microscopic Varicocelectomy and laparoscopic varicocelectomy.
Microscopic Varicocelectomy
Microscopic varicocele surgery is a surgery using a high-powered surgical microscope to operate. This type of surgery allows for a better view of the affected area in the minute and sensitive space like scrotum, too.
Microscopic surgery involves surgeons making a small incision to reach the vein testicle and make it away from the body inflammation so that the body blood pressure is swept away from the scrotum, at least through the affected veins.
Laparoscopic Varicocelectomy
Laparoscopic varicocelectomy is safe and effective, causing minimal discomfort and allowing patients an early return to activity.
Laparoscopic Varicocelectomy is similar to microscopic Varicocelectomy but that accesses the obstruction through one or several tiny incisions in the abdomen.
Treatments for varicocele
Varicocele embolization
Varicocele embolization is a type of medical procedure. It diverts blood away from an enlarged vein in your scrotum. The risks of surgical repair appear to be higher than that of varicocele embolization.
Yoga
It is suggested to practice a certain yoga posture to divert excess blood flow to the penile glans through the veins substituted over the testicles in the scrotum. Take the support of the wall and place the legs upwards with the waist and head touching the ground for at least 10 to 15 minutes every day.
