Minoxidil vs Procapil vs Redensyl vs Kopexil

The four horsemen of Hairfall: Which one is right for me?

With over 10 million cases of progressive hairfall in the country, balding is one of the most debilitating yet common problems faced by both Indian men and women. There are hundreds of products and treatments available in the market and they only serve the purpose of overwhelming and confusing consumers.

However, most products that actually work employ one or more of the four horsemen of hairfall:

  • Minoxidil
  • Redensyl
  • Procapil
  • Aminexil

All four of these chemicals have been scientifically known to nip hairfall at the bud.

But which one is right for me?

Everyone’s body is different and there's no telling what might work for you without consulting your doctor.

You can mix and match different treatments to find the best fit for you. We’ve made it easier for you to decide what to go with

Minoxidil belongs to a category of drugs called vasodilators. Vasodilators help open up blood vessels, thereby facilitating the easy transfer of blood through the vessels.

  • It’s effective, especially for young men. When you start minoxidil early, especially if you’re a man in his twenties who has thinning hair and a father and uncle with male pattern baldness, you have the best chances of responding to minoxidil as a therapy
  • It’s over-the-counter. A doctor’s prescription is not necessary. You can find minoxidil at your local drugstore, although some doctors recommend talking to your primary doctor or dermatologist before starting treatment on your own.

  • It can be cumbersome. Applying it to the scalp can be a challenge for some men. It’s recommended to apply the solution twice a day
  • It doesn’t work for everyone. Minoxidil works best for young men who are just starting to lose their hair. Someone who is already bald won’t be able to grow new hair with minoxidil.
  • Not a permanent solution: Stop using the medication and your hair will begin to thin again.
  • There are more known side effects of minoxidil than any of the other treatments we’ve mentioned. Water retention in the body, excessive hair shedding, unwanted hair growth in other parts of the body to name a few

With the help of an organically extracted compound called dihydroquercetin-glucoside (DHQG), Redensyl targets hair follicles and helps the division of cells, leading to hair growth.

  • Prevents Hair Damage: Redensyl is exceptionally well equipped in helping with the growth of healthier hair, its natural ingredients, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties also prevent and cure any existing hair damage, brittle hair, split ends, scalp irritation, etc.
  • Better Results Than Hair Transplant Surgery: Using Redensyl for 84 days is known to give better results than hair transplant surgery and has excellent reviews.
  • Has No Side Effects: As Redensyl is an entirely plant-based serum processed by biotechnology, you will hardly experience any harmful side effects.

  • Higher Prices: Owing to the many benefits and upsides of Redensyl, the serum is sold at higher prices when compared to many other hair loss medications.

Procapil is a scientifically proven formula that prevents hair loss by blocking DHT, the hormone which, in excess amounts, may be responsible for your hair loss.

Prevents hair thinning: Procapil activates the hair follicles so that they do not become dead or dormant, hence eradicating hair thinning.

It strengthens hair: Procapil has apigenin in it. It strengthens hair by activating hair follicles, nourishing them, and supplying oxygen to it.

It helps you regrow hair: You can also achieve hair growth by using procapil hair growth products with minoxidil infusion in them. Both procapil and minoxidil are vasodilators that activate dormant hair follicles and increase blood flow to hair follicles.

Blocks DHT: More DHT in the body means inadequate nourishment of hair follicles, leading to brittle hair and hair breakage. Procapil blocks the DHT in and strengthens the hair follicles.

It is usually effective when mixed with other treatments.

However, Procapil has no known side effects, making it a great choice when you’re experimenting with new products.

Kopexil is diaminopyrimide oxide, which is a vasodilator, a substance that increases blood flow in the body. It's used for blood pressure control; however, there’s a side effect; an increase in the amount of hair. For this reason, it has been incorporated as a treatment to stop and prevent hair loss.

  • Promotes circulation on the scalp, allowing cell regeneration; so it rejuvenates the hair follicles.
  • It stimulates collagen synthesis, enabling stronger and healthier hair growth.
  • Strengthens hair root; so hair loss decreases quite noticeably.
  • Prevents collagen solidification, favoring hair follicle health.
  • Specialists claim that it does not cause side effects.

  • This component needs to be used at an early stage; because it is not effective in case of advanced alopecia.
  • It cannot be considered as a definitive cure for baldness.
  • It is necessary to maintain a constant treatment, within months of abandoning treatment, the effect is lost.

Now that you’ve had a bit of a crash course on the four horsemen of hairfall, it should be easier for you to choose, mix and match your treatments. However, remember to stay consistent. Stick to one product for at least 2 months to see the results before switching.

If you’re worried about scouring the hundreds of brands out there, we found this amazing brand with the best qualities and concentrations of all four of the components we talked about.
